Video Vortex XI is an international conference and exhibition that brings together artists, curators, filmmakers and academics who have been working with video theory & technologies to discuss the rapidly changing relationship between the viewer and the image. Video Vortex was initially established by the Institute of Network Cultures, Amsterdam, as a travelling conference, and this is the first time it will take place in South Asia.

VV XI will be held from 22-26 February, as a part of the Srishti Outpost — a collateral event of the Kochi-Muzeris biennial — in two locations: Hotel 18, in Fort Kochi, and the Mill Hall in Mattancherry. The conference & film screenings will take place in Hotel 18, while the Mill Hall will hold an exhibition of video installations and workshops. The programme over the four days will consist of a combination of artists‘ talks, curated screening programmes, interactive video installations, performances, roundtables, and public talks. In addition, the Video Vortex XI website (videovortex11.net) will be a platform for screenings and interviews with artists, filmmakers and scholars.
Video Vortex XI is free and open to the public, but please write to rashmi.sawhney@srishti.ac.in to regsister if you wish to attend. The dedline for registering for the two workshops: 1. Geert Lovink on Internet Criticism (limited to 20 participants); 2. Anne Roquigny on WEBJAYING (limited to 6 participants) is 15th February.
